The European Union (EU) Funded Traineeship Programme 2026 offers young Nigerian graduates a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in international relations, diplomacy, and public policy.
Hosted by the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, this traineeship provides direct exposure to how the European Union operates, engages with governments, and promotes its values within Nigeria and the West African region.

Areas of Work

- Assisting in communication and media activities
- Participating in public diplomacy events
- Supporting visits from EU institutions
This provides practical exposure to real-world policy analysis and diplomatic engagement.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be citizens of Nigeria
- Currently reside in Abuja, Nigeria
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
- Have less than one year of professional experience after graduation
- Have no prior experience exceeding 6 weeks in EU institutions
The programme targets young graduates at the early stage of their careers.
Selection Process
The selection process is competitive and may include:
