The Visa Africa FinTech Accelerator Program is an initiative by Visa aimed at empowering Africa’s next generation of fintech innovators. The accelerator provides startups with the tools, expertise, mentorship, and strategic support needed to refine their products and scale across African markets.
The programme combines virtual learning sessions, expert-led workshops, investor engagement, mentorship opportunities, and an in-person Demo Day where startups pitch their solutions to investors and ecosystem stakeholders.
Since its launch in 2023, the programme has supported over 100 startups across more than 35 African countries.
Visa is specifically looking for startups building solutions in areas such as:
- Unlocking new payment flows
- Embedded finance
- Payment infrastructure
- Merchant and SME solutions
- AI and blockchain in finance
- Sustainable and inclusive finance

- Be at Seed to Series A stage
- Have at least a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or market-ready solution
- Be building innovative solutions aligned with Visa’s programme themes
- Demonstrate market traction or product validation
Be focused on solving financial and payment-related challenges.
