Location: Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (On-site / Hybrid options based on institutional needs)

Role Overview

The Intern supports the technical evaluation, data tracking, and administrative execution of sustainable development projects within the Environment and Energy unit. This role focuses on accelerating green growth, climate change adaptation, and renewable energy deployment across regional member countries in Africa. The position requires managing project datasets, assisting with environmental and social impact assessments, and collaborating across digital workspaces to support pan-African climate financing initiatives.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Review Support: Review technical data sheets, track project performance indicators, and assist in compiling environmental and social compliance reports for energy and climate initiatives.
  • Data & Policy Analysis: Gather regional climate intelligence, update energy access statistics, and analyze renewable energy trends to support the design of sustainable infrastructure projects.
  • Administrative Coordination: Maintain structured updates via shared document tracking systems, draft brief technical memos, and coordinate logistical preparations for regional stakeholder workshops.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in multi-disciplinary team reviews to ensure that infrastructure operations align completely with green growth frameworks and environmental safety policies.

Candidate Requirements

  • Enrollment Status: Current master's or PhD student in Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Development, Climate Policy, Economics, or an adjacent engineering field. Recent graduates who completed their degree within the last 12 months are also eligible. 
  • Competencies: Proven capacity to manage large data streams, perform qualitative research, and navigate digital office tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, project management dashboards).
  • Language Proficiency: Complete professional fluency in written and spoken English or French is required. A working knowledge of the second language is highly advantageous. 
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be 30 years of age or younger at the time of the application deadline.
