Graduate Procurement Executive at The Place (Abuja) | Apply Now

If you're looking to build a career in procurement, supply chain management, or purchasing, The Place is currently recruiting a Graduate Procurement Executive to join its team in Abuja.

The Place is one of Nigeria's leading hospitality and Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brands. Established by professionals with backgrounds in management consulting and accounting, the company has grown into a reputable business with operations across Lagos and Abuja. With over 2,000 employees, The Place continues to expand its footprint across Nigeria, offering career opportunities in procurement, operations, finance, technology, customer service, and other business functions.

For this role, the company is looking for a procurement professional with 1–3 years of relevant experience to support sourcing activities across its outstation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating competitive prices, processing purchase requests, and ensuring products are procured efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

Unlike many graduate procurement positions that are primarily office-based, this role combines fieldwork with procurement administration. Successful candidates will regularly visit markets, farms, and supplier locations to identify vendors, compare prices, monitor market trends, and build lasting supplier relationships. If you enjoy negotiating, conducting market research, and contributing to efficient supply chain operations, this is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within one of Nigeria's growing hospitality companies.

Job Overview

Position: Graduate Procurement Executive

Company: The Place

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Industry: Hospitality / Quick Service Restaurant (QSR)

Experience Required: 1–3 Years

Reports To: Procurement Manager

About the Role

The Graduate Procurement Executive will support procurement activities for the company's outstation operations by identifying cost-effective suppliers, sourcing quality products, and ensuring timely purchasing of food and non-food items.

A significant part of the role involves travelling to farms, local markets, and supplier locations to evaluate vendors, negotiate prices, inspect product quality, and identify new sourcing opportunities. Candidates should therefore be comfortable working both in the office and in the field.

The successful candidate will also process purchase requests through the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, maintain procurement records, monitor market prices, and collaborate with warehouse, inventory, and finance teams to ensure smooth procurement operations.

Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP software will be an added advantage, as these systems are widely used to manage purchasing, inventory, finance, and supply chain activities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Researching farm produce and other items that can be sourced more cost-effectively from outstation locations.
  • Identifying markets, farms, distributors, and supplier hubs for food and non-food items.
  • Evaluating, registering, and onboarding new vendors while ensuring compliance with company procurement policies.
  • Processing purchase requests and purchase orders using Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Monitoring market prices and reporting significant price changes to the Procurement Manager.
  • Conducting regular market surveys to identify new sourcing opportunities and cost-saving options.
  • Maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Working closely with warehouse, inventory, and finance teams to ensure efficient procurement processes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and consistent product quality.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of Second Class Upper Division (2:1).
  • Between 1 and 3 years of relevant experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or related roles.
  • Practical experience working directly with vendors, particularly within local or rural markets.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience using ERP software, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365, will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organisational, and analytical skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who are from Northern Nigeria or are familiar with the region's culture and business environment. Fluency in Hausa is also preferred, as the role involves regular interaction with suppliers across Northern Nigeria.

Why You Should Consider This Opportunity

This position offers practical exposure to procurement and supply chain operations within a fast-growing hospitality company. Beyond routine purchasing, successful candidates will gain experience in vendor sourcing, supplier relationship management, procurement planning, price analysis, market research, and ERP-based procurement systems.

These skills are highly transferable and can open doors to career opportunities across industries such as manufacturing, FMCG, agriculture, logistics, retail, and hospitality.
